I’ve had the Linden pattern for years and for some reason never made it. I’ve seen a few pop up recently and reminded me it existed.
Full disclosure this make is 100% copied from a Selfish Mother sweater which I’ve been trying to buy for months now and it’s always out of stock. Not an excuse I know and I do feel guilty despite ripping off RTW all the time.
The black jersey came from Fabworks and the ribbing and liberty sweatshirting is from Fabrics Galore. I’m not all fancy and don’t have a Cricut machine so I drew the letters on paper, cut them out then used bondaweb to stick them to the sweatshirt. Tip: it’s much easier to do before you’ve made the sweater.
My machine has an appliqué stitch but I wasn’t keen how it looked so instead I used a really short zig zag stitch to sew around each letter. I found my machine wasn’t feeding the fabric through so had to pull it through, not ideal when the first rule of sewing jersey is not to pull through your machine! I then constructed the sweater as normal. From sticking the letters down to attaching the ribbing it took a grand total of 80 minutes. I love a speedy make!
If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll notice I usually take pictures on our weekend adventures. Every weekend nearly, we go for a drive, a walk and a pub lunch. This week was an impromptu trip to Haworth as Hardcastle Craggs was closed due to high winds!
